Photomarathon

Saturday 13 september 2014

10am To 5pm

Inner Market, St Peter Port

The Photomarathon is a one‑day photography competition with a twist; in 6 hours you have to take 12 pictures on 12 given topics. The Photomarathon is open to anyone. £10 to enter. We provide you with a disposable camera. You’ll have a chance to win prizes and be featured in the Photomarathon exhibition, so why not get involved!

The day itself

The headquarters for the Photomarathon will be Inner Market, St Peter Port see map.

Registration and competition hand outs begin at 10.00am. You will receive a disposable camera and the first set of 4 topics. You will then have the next two hours to shoot one image per topic, in the same order as the topics are listed. At 12.30pm the next set of 4 topics are released. You must personally collect the set of topics from the HQ, and have your entry card stamped to prove attendance. This process is repeated again at 2.30pm. Completed entries will be accepted at the HQ until 5.00pm.

The topics are kept secret until revealed every two hours and will offer plenty of room for creativity. The imagination and creativity in interpreting the topics is more important than the technical perfection of the photographs and you are free to use flash guns, tripods, filters or any other related equipment. The only limits are the single 12 exposure film, the 6 hours and your own creativity.

After the day of the Photomarathon, all of the films will be processed and the pictures printed. Our panel of judges will then meet to decide the winners. Competitors will be judged not on their fitness but on their creativity and interpretation of the topics.

Who Can Enter?

The Photomarathon is open to anyone. Young people under the age of 18 must provide a signature from their parent or guardian to take part. The Guernsey Photography Festival cannot take responsibility for the supervision of children during this event and would therefore recommend that children under the age of 14 are accompanied by an adult.
